Schneider Electric joins the Lithuanian Liquefied Natural Gas cluster

The position and potential of the Lithuanian Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cluster is significantly strengthened by the contributions of globally operating business partners. Schneider Electric is the fourth international company to join this business and scientific cooperation platform.

The company is based in France and is a world leader in electric engineering and automation products, solutions and services. Schneider Electric employs approx. 144 thousand employees globally. Last year’s revenue of the company amounted to 1.75 billion euro.

Schneider Electric is the 14th member of the Lithuania LNG cluster and the 4th international partner. The decision regarding its membership was approved by the annual reporting meeting at Klaipėda Science and Technology Park, which coordinates operation of the cluster.

“We are undoubtedly interested in expanding our partner network, contributing to creation of new LNG product prototypes in Lithuania and enriching the trainings offered by the cluster with the knowledge and experience gathered by our international experts. We see participation in the activities of this platform as truly promising and valuable on many levels,” said Denisas Gacicha, the Head of Schneider Electric Lietuva UAB.

The company is planning to contribute to education of the critical mass of the future LNG specialists by sending its specialists to lecture at Klaipėda University (KU) and by assisting in organisation of trainings at the LNG competence centre opened last winter at the KU business incubator. The supplied infrastructure, which makes it possible for students to learn first-hand about the technological LNG processes, will be enhanced by modern Schneider Electric equipment in the future.

Mantas Bartuška, the Director General of Lietuvos Geležinkeliai AB and the Chairman of the Board of the LNG cluster, emphasised that attracting international companies and know-how enables the cluster to effectively seek implementation of the objective for the purposes of which this cooperation platform was initially established: to transform Lithuania into the centre of LNG technologies and distribution in the Baltic Region.

“Obviously, the membership of Schneider Electric will consolidate the quality level of the locally created LNG products and services. We are glad that new partners are joining the organisation, which is young, but ambitious and consistently seeking professional cooperation in the fields of energy, education, science and business,” stated Mr Bartuška.
